Working toward equity & access in hockey — one rink, one player, one community at a time
ABOUT US
Face Off For Change is a youth-led movement to make hockey a game for everyone. We’re breaking down the barriers—financial, cultural, and gender-based—that keep too many players off the ice.
Through our educational website, vibrant Instagram community, and partnerships across the hockey world, we’re sharing real stories, practical resources, and game-changing opportunities for newcomers and underrepresented players.
From helping families navigate their first gear purchase to organizing equipment drives to teaming up with charity rink projects that bring state-of-the-art ice to underserved communities, we’re working to open the arena doors wider than ever before.
Because hockey isn’t just a sport—it’s a community. And when everyone can play, we all win.
Every goal starts with opportunity.

OUR MISSION
Our mission is to open the rink to everyone—empowering youth and families from under-resourced communities, newcomers to Canada, and women in hockey to step onto the ice with confidence. We break down barriers with practical guidance, affordable gear options, and connections to inclusive programs, so more people can enjoy the physical, social, and mental health benefits of the game. Because when hockey reflects the diversity of those who love it, the sport’s culture grows stronger, richer, and more connected.

GET INVOLVED
Expensive gear, limited rink access, and a lack of resources for women’s and girls’ teams keep too many players sidelined. We’re changing that through equipment drives and by sharing the stories and knowledge that make the sport more welcoming. Donate your gently used gear, help us connect with new players, or share your own hockey journey! Every contribution brings someone closer to the ice.

INSPIRATION
A Word About Our Founder
I have been playing hockey since I was four years old and have experienced firsthand the life lessons and opportunities the sport can offer. Working at a used sports equipment store introduced me to families struggling to access hockey, and volunteering with my dad’s company on NHL charity rink projects showed me how infrastructure can change a community. I want others, regardless of background, to have the same chance to benefit from the sport that has shaped me.

Success will be measured by both reach and tangible outcomes, including engagement with online platforms, the volume of donated equipment and funds, the number of participants served, and the establishment of sustainable partnerships with organizations that share the mission of equity in hockey.
